The Port of Hamburg ranks 15th in the world for shipping ports, and it is the 2nd largest in Europe.
I have seen the marine and shipping world change dramatically since August of 2008, as did the rest of the world. The continuous sounds of this busy shipping port were somewhat silenced over the past few years.
Cargo turnover dropped by 22% in 2009, where container throughput dropped by 28%.
It may not seem like much, but port traffic in and out of Hamburg dropped by more than 5 vessels per day.
I can read about this in many of the publications, but I didn’t need statistics to notice this change.
Please post and tell us what you see happening in the port nearest you.
