Want to make your mini excavator more versatile?
Contractors know – the more versatile your machines, the better.
A versatile machine can boost operator productivity, improve your bottom line and even help you land more jobs.
A mini-excavator with front shovel capabilities is one very versatile machine. The Cat® E Series Mini Hydraulic Excavators
make multitasking look easy. Hydraulic couplers allow one man to change work tools in seconds for maximum performance
and flexibility on the job site. One machine can move rapidly from task to task, and a fleet of similarly equipped machines can share a
common work tool inventory. Most Pin grabber style couplers also allow the operator to change the bucket from rear-facing to front-facing
without ever leaving the cab. Adding this front shovel capability provides three distinct advantages.
First, a front shovel will allow you to dig under an object such as a pipe, driveway or sidewalk.
This can be especially beneficial in landscaping projects and utility/distribution work when digging around pipes and utility lines.
Second, a front shovel allows the operator to dump materials with skid steer-like accuracy. Rather than have to throw the materials
being moved, a front shovel allows for more precise placement against a wall, fence or other surface area.
Finally, a front shovels enhances trench digging efforts, allowing a cleaner removal of materials as they are moved up and out of the trench,
rather than pushing them down and into the corners.
Clearly, adding front shovel capacity can make one mini-excavator do the job of two pieces of equipment.
Have you used the front shovel option on a mini-excavator?
I’d like to hear about what other tasks have you been able to accomplish with this added versatility.
