HI;
Can you tell me if there is CAT marine engine that will run on both Natural gas and diesel fuels?

I worked at a dealer a few years ago and we researched converting both 3412's and 3512's propulsion engines using the GTI Bi fuel conversions. We never actually did the conversions due to concerns by the USCG about fuel storage for the CNG. Since we did a number of dual fuel conversions on EPG units we felt pretty comfortable doing it for propulsion.
I've responded to several threads on the issue, the experience and concerns from the EPG side would pretty much apply for marine propulsion, except for concern by Marine regulatory agencies, at least in my opinion.

Hi, There are a few Cat engines that are running on high pressure natural gas and diesel with a 30% diesel 70% Natural gas mix (a ferry in brazil for instance - 2 x C32's). MaK have just announced a DF 46 engine with 1% piot diesel injection and 99% Low Pressure Natural Gas

Mike L,
I would really like to know more about this.
How can I get in touch with you?
I'm a bit reluctant to post my email adress here for spam reasons...
Alex
