CAT 3516 crankcase pressure

So we have a problem onboard with our 3516's. Crankcase pressure exeeds on one of our engines and we keep thinking this is because of the air pressure in the engineroom. Its only like 6 mBars in differential pressure, but the other three only have about 1-2 mBar. So something seems wrong.

Ive read that the sensor calculates the differential pressure between inhouse crankcase and outside the egnine.

The thing is that we have 4 engines and the one closest to the air inlet in the engineroom has a larger diff than the rest of them. Does anyone know how high the pressure should be in the crankcase. I believe also that there will be a different value if you let the sensor read the outside air pressure, instead of the inside, engineroom pressure. And could this be a solution to the problem?

But mainly Im concerned about the air pressure in the engineroom. Does Caterpillar have any reference values of some kind? How high pressure is recommended?

Thanks!

Post engine serial number of engine with the problem.

check sea water attached pump seal passing to crankcase if tel-tale hole blocked for pump

Re: CAT 3516 crankcase pressure

hi

1     simple sweep the sensors with other engine and check.

2     check oil level in sump (exsassive oil make more pressure and normally crenkshaft seals make leak)

3     if u have cat ET connect and calibrate pressure sensors with atmospharic sensors.

4     check in monitering system set point for high crenkcase pressure.

if still problem  then u need blow bay test and overhaule the engine.(compression is leaking from IC chamber to sump)
