We have two 320 excavators, and one works very slow when digging and turning to dump etc. Changed two hyd filters, but no help. Any ideas?

Are both machines the same modle? You have a serial # on them? Are they both in the same digging mode if it has it? fine grade, mass excavation, ect? Unusaul noises? Does the slow one track straaight? if not it may be a pump issue.

# 320cupabo6540 and 320ccpabo6562. Frankly I don't know how to set digging mode, can you tell me? It does track straight, but there is trash in fuel tank. Been trying to get it drained out by opening tank bleeder valve several times a day etc., and have chainged fuel filtersand water separator. No unusual noises. Somewhere I heard about hyd filter in the large verticle cylinder by fuel tank?

They are new enough that they will automatically adjust for the digging conditions. One other thing you can check is to go in to the display monitor and go to performance settings, you can scroll through and watch the engine RPM and hyd pump pressures. The pumps should be around 35000-36000 kpa. Check that on both of them and see if you can see a difference between machines. If not call Cat and have them check the engine to make sure it is making power, then go for the hyd system to see if it is up to par.
If there is crap in the tank, that could be it all right there. I think that is new enough that it will derate it it has low fuel pressure and that will definitely cause a low power compalint.
