3412e Timing Calibration

I am trying to run the timing calibration on a 3412e following a rebuild, but I have not been able to get ET to recognize the timing probe. Any suggestions? Is there any way to set the injector timing without the probe?

Thanks,
Rich

Re: 3412e Timing Calibration

There is no other way to calibrate the timing. Make sure the probe is connected to the correct plug (J26-P26), the engine harness is not damaged and the wires are correct in the plug (pink to 1, purple to 2).

Re: 3412e Timing Calibration

did you try a different probe?  get it in the correct spot.  I always carried a couple of them with me, all it takes is a slight hit from the crank and it will wipe it out.

Re: 3412e Timing Calibration

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Dave - The harness is new. I only saw one plug that the timing probe would plug into. I'll look again, and I will check the wire colors.

Cat Tech - I only have one probe, but the tip looks fine. I don't think it was hit.

Re: 3412e Timing Calibration

Turns out we did have the wrong connector. We used an open connector on the harness. The correct connector (pink and purple wires) had to be disconnected to connect to the probe. Once we did that, all worked fine. Thanks for the help!
