Cat 226 Skid Steer Creep

If I am sitting on a slight decline in my 226 Skid Steer it seems to creep a little foward.  Does this indicated a problem with the hydraulics?  I have changed the filter and all fluids are fine.  I am not sure where to look next.

Thanks,

Pete

Re: Cat 226 Skid Steer Creep

It could be several things.  In the travel motors there are brake packs, they could be bad.  Or oil could be leaking past the pilot controllers actuating the pumps, or the pumps may not be neutralized.  Is it just one side?  Both sides?  just going forward?  Best bet it to take it to a dealer and have them do a hyd system check of the machine and adjust pressures.

Just forward.  Usually if I am on a slight decline.

It doesn't move if the safety bar is up.

Re: Cat 226 Skid Steer Creep

ok, if the bar is up and it does not move then I would say the park brakes are good.  Does it go straight forward, or seem to want to pull one way.  If it goes striaght then I would lean toward the pilot valve has internal leakage.  If it seems to want to pull one way I would lean toward one of the pumps is not getting to neutral.  You will have to put gauges on it to see what it is.

Could just be an adjustment in the steerig linkages.
