3516 power drop

Hi,I has just registered on the site and that's no way to introduce myself (sorry for my poor English), but it's great that a forum exist. My name is Damian and I am from Argentina, recently in the electric troubleshoot division and I am experimenting a problem with two 3516, a power linx and a EMCP 2. The problem with these 2 power modules is a loss of power during normal working intermittently and I would like if anyone can guide me where to start looking for it is the first time I experienced a failure of this type. from already thank you very much, and goes without saying that I am at your entire disposition if I can be useful

Re: 3516 power drop

What do you mean by Loss of power?

DC power, total shutdown, load imbalance ?????

Im assuming you are having load imbalance issues but without further details it is very difficult to assist

Please describe the issue you are experiencing in more detail

Re: 3516 power drop

sorry again about my english...

i'd try to describe the problem...

the power module works ok the most of time, but intermitently it just drop all the load, sometimes for a few seconds, but sometimes it just stay rotating without load and i can hear when turbochargers drop rpms because o that.

thanks again

Re: 3516 power drop

When it drops the load I have to assume the other unit picks up the load as well

What type of 3516 do you have , mechanical or electronic?

It sounds like you may be losing the speed biasing signal from the Power Lynx panel or throttle signal to the ECM

If this is electronic do you have access to ET?

What is the plant load like when this happens? Steady or is this during a transient load swing?

Check all connections for speed bias circuit. What make of 4 pole relay is used in the Power Lynx Panel for the PLC OK relay? Eaton or IDEC

You can put a millimeter on the speed bias circuit on the customer connection terminal strip, this voltage (DC) should be relatively stable.

With more details we can provide more detailed trouble shooting

Re: 3516 power drop

i forgot to mention that the power module was under the command of a woodward EasyGen and we found the problem in a poor power supply in that module.

thanks anyway
