Under voltage fault on 550 kva genset

Hi there, I have a 550kva Cat with ECM 3.2 which today has a low voltage fault. I have measured the voltage at the line side of the breaker and there is only 50V instead of 415V. Can anyone suggest a likely cause/ place to start looking for the problem? Thanks

Re: Under voltage fault on 550 kva genset

Sounds like you have a voltage regulator problem, since your generator is generating a voltage output at a residual level, it is likely the field is not being excited. Start by checking the F1 (+) and F2 (-) leads and see if a DC voltage is present, typically something above 10 VDC. Start with that and we can go from there.

Re: Under voltage fault on 550 kva genset

Pls clear more. The genset was running in 1500 rpm and there was no overload, suddently It's  voltage dropped form 415V to 50V or the voltage's always 50V???

I think your AVR might get failed. Pls check as DC Voltage between F+ & F- after check all connection.
