PL1000E uploading

I need to replace a defective PL1000E on a tug boat. (The PL100E was shipped with 3512B engine). I flashed the software in the new reman PL1000E but I can not upload the .pcl file in. I use the Ethernet port by Internet explorer for access the FTP page. But I can't open the FTP web page from the browser. Somebody have a clear procedure to configure Internet Explorer  ability to opening the FTP web page ?

Re: PL1000E uploading

If you're using Windows XP you can do it from Windows Explorer.

How I do it ( and I did it a bunch of times yesterday),

Go to Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer, usually will open up My Documents.

In the address bar type in " ftp:// 123.456.789.1 (use your IP address)and hit Enter.

A message will box will pop up saying it can't log you in, close the dialog box and go to File > Login and click on it, another box will open asking you to log in, user name is "admin" and password is "admin" (unless you changed it), hit enter, then the file transfer folder will open.

There will be four folders, Archive, Current, Error, and New. Open the New folder, make sure it's empty, then copy your new PCL file into it. The either cycle power to the PL1000 or use the webpage interface to do a RESET.

Go back to your FTP page, click on the New folder, if the PCL file you just put in is still there, go up to the task bar, click on View, then Refresh, the New folder should be empty, then close it and go the the Current folder, your PCL file should be there with a time and date stamp added.

Hope that helps, Mike L.

Re: PL1000E uploading

If you are connecting directly from the PL1000E to your computer, you will need to modify the cable to a crossover cable.  If you don't want to modify the cable then connect the PL1000E and your computer to a switch.
