I would like to see a discussion group for Marine Power Generation and Systems.
Not many sites available for the Marine Power Engineers in the Yachting Industry.

Thank you for your feedback. This is Caterpillar’s first online community, and Power Generation was chosen as our pilot topic. As we get the hang of it we do plan to expand into other areas. I’ve relayed your comments to our friends in Caterpillar Marine Power Systems to let them know there is interest.
Thank you for joining the Cat Online Community.

This On line initiative is bound to spread far and wide and I am confident that finally all Power Professionals could have a free knowledge exchange and clear our ideas through well defined discussions.
Congrats to the team of CAT who formulated the idea.

I’m an electrical engineer and I’m interested in all the electrical systems, Caterpillar engines, power generations, marine power, power for oil.
This site is a very good idea, Reading the questions, the suggestions and the answers may be very useful for everybody.The past experience and the solutions found in one site in the world may be an help to someone on the other side of the world;
is like to work in a world-team.
Congratulations to all those that have had this idea, I suggest to expand it also on Marine, Oil, Gas and Loco.

I notice that there are discussion groups for the power generation and marine markets but not for the industrial nor oil & gas markets. I would participate more, I think, if the discussions reflect the issues I see in my field.
Thanks,
Darrel.

You'll likely see reduced spark plug and transformer life due to higher energy requirements to burn the fuel, also affected by deposit levels. As deposit levels increase you will NOx emissions increase from higher compression, also detonation margins decrease and engine alarms and shutdowns increase.
