Hey what a great find this site is! I am a little surprised though, where is the earthmoving equipment Caterpillar is so famous for? The first thing most people think of when CAT is mentioned is big dirt, no? A section for earthmoving equipment could help attract new members especilly if it has good pictures for people to look at :) I have lots of them and will start it off with a few.
I spent about 15 years as an Operator in Heavy Construction before going out on my own as an Owner/Operator this past couple years. I spent a LOT of time on Scrapers, Dozers, Excavators and Graders. Although I love CAT equipment when I went out on my own I didn't buy a CAT. Probably only because CAT does not make the type of Excavator I wanted...at least not yet anyways. So I will share some pictures from before I got my own machine.
A pair off Series II 637E's
I have lots of pictures of this machine. I spent about 4 years on it building roads and subdivisions in Alberta with it.
I know...my bowl is to high in the air lol But for good reason. Right behind me was the only soft spot on the haul road, had to have it up going through it.
Good fun! Gotta love it when you can shoot out your load in top gear!
I miss this kind of work sometimes. Now I do much smaller scale Excavating and Landscaping.....things are kind of slow with my machine right now. I think if the opportunity came up I wouldn't mind going back to moving bigger dirt for a few months.
